Freudenberg Medical Introduces Rapid Prototype WorkCell, A Rapid Tooling and Prototyping Program
Unique program includes dedicated engineers and delivers molded prototypes in any material
BALDWIN PARK, Calif. – July 26, 2016 – Freudenberg Medical, a global developer and manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions for the medical device industry, announces a comprehensive program for quick-turn tooling and prototyping. Rapid Prototype WorkCell is a new four-part program which includes a modular mold system; a 3D cavity set made of steel, plastic or aluminum inserts; a dedicated molding press; and dedicated design engineers to manage the customer’s entire process.
Freudenberg Medical has installed an injection molding press dedicated to the rapid tooling and prototyping program. This unique workcell can quickly mold parts in any material the customer specifies while a design engineer works with customers in real-time to solve problems.
“What makes our program special is the dedicated engineers − experienced in program management, part design, and injection molding − who will manage all steps in this process and deliver samples to customers. Customers then review samples and make modifications which can be quickly implemented and new samples produced,” said Tom Diaz, New
Program Engineering Manager at Freudenberg Medical. “Our competition does not have these types of specialized resources.”
With speed to market so critical in this industry, Freudenberg Medical’s Rapid Prototype WorkCell can deliver custom 3D printed cavity inserts in 2-4 days depending on the complexity. If a customer prefers working with steel or aluminum inserts the turnaround is longer but the program delivers real parts for review and testing prior to implementation of production tooling.
