Freudenberg Medical Expands Micro Injection Molding Capabilities for Thermoplastic Applications

Baldwin Park, Calif. – January 30, 2018 – Freudenberg Medical, a global manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions for the medical device industry, has expanded their thermoplastic micro injection molding capabilities with the addition of an ARBURG micro injection modular machine.

Freudenberg Medical has added advanced micro molding services in order to meet customers increasingly challenging molding requirements. “Engineering grade materials can be sensitive to shear and a very fine level of control is needed to produce shot weights under 0.1 gram,” said Hamlet Haroutonian, Project Manager / Master Molder II at Freudenberg Medical’s Baldwin Park operation. “With our new thermoplastic micro molding workcell we can produce very small shot sizes with great accuracy.”

Ancillary services to complement thermoplastic micro molding include robotic part handling with integrated vision inspection systems and integration with the RJG eDART® System for process control and monitoring when in-cavity pressure transducers are built into the mold.

Freudenberg Medical provides advanced micro molding for both silicone and thermoplastic components at operations in California and Germany. The Baldwin Park operation in California manufactures and assembles medical components and finished devices, working primarily with thermoplastics. Value added services include metrology and validation, scientific molding and D.O.E capabilities, and a dedicated rapid prototyping work cell.
