Freudenberg Medical Expands in U.S. Market

Tube manufacturing, device coating and product design services

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – April 13, 2016 – Freudenberg Medical, a global developer and manufacturer of medical device components continues to expand and invest in medical manufacturing services in the United States.

The company has expanded tube manufacturing at its Carpinteria, California facility; opened a new product design and development office in California; and acquired Hemoteq AG, a provider of surface coating technology for medical devices.

Freudenberg Medical recently completed the expansion of its extrusion and molding cleanrooms at the company’s silicone operation in Carpinteria and has increased silicone tubing production capacity by 50 percent.

A new product design and development office in Southern California has helped foster collaboration with customers located on the west coast. The company’s California product design team is focused on minimally invasive solutions and catheter-based devices.

“We have taken our company to the next level and have fulfilled a longterm strategy objective to offer customers a full suite of innovative technology services for the manufacture of medical devices and components,” said Dr. Jorg Schneewind, president and CEO of Freudenberg Medical.

“The product and service spectrum of Hemoteq, a newly acquired business unit, perfectly complements the capabilities of Freudenberg Medical, as the components and devices we manufacture can be surface modified with active-ingredient coatings for optimal efficacy,” added Max Kley, president of Freudenberg Medical Europe and the Specialty Components division. “With the combination of our material and processing expertise and Hemoteq's industry-leading coating technology we can now provide our customers a unique portfolio of product solutions.”

In addition, the company completed a global rebranding initiative in January of this year that unifies a diverse range of medical device providers under the Freudenberg Medical brand name, including Helix Medical, MedVenture Technology, and Hemoteq, as well as joint-venture partners VistaMed and Cambus Medical.
